Council of Mortgage Lenders reveals most buyers seek out brokers

12 August 2008

The vast majority of first-time buyers sought the advice of mortgage brokers during the first half of this year, data from the Council of Mortgage Lenders reveals.

The CML’s Lending via Intermediaries table, published this morning along with gross lending figures for June, show that 78% of first-time buyers obtained a mortgage through a broker in Q2.

It also shows that 83% of first-time buyers did the same in Q1.

The figures also reveal that 61% of home movers used an intermediary to obtain a mortgage in Q2.
